Pentti Viitala, father of six, made the most courageous decision of his life: he sold his cows, bought a lorry, and began to upholster sofas in the hen house of the family farm. The sofas were marketed door to door.
First factory in Kurikka was opened in old school building and first employee hired.
Production was expanded by buying wood factory and sale to retailers started. 20th employee was hired
The company made a large investment and the foundation for the current Kurikka Factory was laid. Timo Viitala was named managing director and the number of employees grew to 50.
